Why I've Sought a Mentor
"Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you and have done the hard yards" - Richard Branson. "Never stop learning"
Like young Padawan and Obi-Wan Kenobi, I have always loved the idea of having a mentor. They help bring out the best in you and guide you on the path to success. I have had a multitude of mentors over the past few years that are all useful to chat to or get advice from for different things.
Here are four key things I've learned from my mentor/Business coach experiences:
-
They help catalyze change.
A good mentor or business coach can help you identify areas where you need to improve and develop strategies to make it happen.
-
They help change your internal dialogue about your business.
The way you talk to yourself about your business can have a big impact on your success. A good mentor or business coach can help you identify and challenge negative self-talk and develop a more positive and empowering internal dialogue.
-
They are usually smarter than you and can see the path that for you may be clouded.
A good mentor or business coach has likely been where you are before and can offer valuable insights and advice. They can help you avoid common pitfalls and make better decisions for your business.
-
They can help connect you to what you need
Business coaches are often well connected and learn your business inside out.
They are speaking to a wide range of other business owners and can sometimes connect you with the people you need to help the business succeed
